WHO IS KATI
TZACHEVA?
Kati has
been dancing for 19 years, the last 7 of which inspired by the culture of
Tropical Africa and Jamaica, where the rhythm of dance is an integral part of
life. She recently visited South Africa to get a closer look at the culture and
gain knowledge of the Afro dance straight from the horse’s mouth.
"Dance
brings us closer, frees us and makes us happy. To dance is to create, to be who
you want to be. To do something good for your body and soul. This is what I
want to show and convey to my students."
Kati enters
a dance studio for the first time when she is 6. For the next 7 years, she
practices classical ballet intensively. She quickly becomes the prima ballerina
of the group in her hometown Svishtov, dancing in pointe shoes at concerts and
competitions since second grade. In the meantime, she does modern ballet,
cheerleading and tries out different styles. She then meets her true love -
street dancing. From a beginner in hip-hop, after many concerts and battles,
she earns her position as an assistant and then chief choreographer of the
hip-hop formation in her hometown. Thus, even before graduating high school,
she gains experience in teaching and choreography.
She
continues to develop her skills and performs in different styles, realizing
that the hot African and Jamaican vibes are closest to her heart. They are
suitable for all who like having fun, while at the same time they gain more and
more popularity on the world stage and provide scope for development for the
ambitious dancers.
In 2014, VS
DANCE becomes her dance family. In 2015, she starts teaching classes in the
studio. Since then, her students have had numerous performances, including at
VS DANCE's big annual concerts, and in 2019 they also participated in the
Africa Day celebrations, the biggest event for African culture in Bulgaria.
Recently Kati performed on stage with the international afrobeats star Teni, at
her concert in Sofia. Kati has performed in other styles as well as in various
concerts with the other professionals from VS DANCE. She has participated in
music videos, working with artists such as Jahmmi Youth, NDOE, MNK, Kappa Irie,
Vesi Boneva and others. Kati has had a number of performances in Greece, both
solo and with popular Greek artists. In 2018 she was one of the judges in the
first ever Dancehall Queen battle in Bulgaria, and is actively involved in the
promotion of the music and cultures of Africa and Jamaica in Bulgaria.
