Museum Complex – Bansko is the first of its kind within the national museum network. Optimally structured, it successfully fulfills its task of searching for, preserving, studying and presenting cultural values from the region in the context of the all-Bulgarian development, especially for the era of the Revival and the liberation struggles. A valuable contribution in this regard is made by the rich ethnographic material and the results of archaeological excavations and research. The museum develops its activities in a world-famous resort and settlement, which is a preferred destination on the tourist routes of Bulgaria, a center of attraction for thousands of foreign tourists. Many of them gain an idea of Bulgaria, the traditions of our people, and its achievements in historical and cultural terms precisely from Bansko. This circumstance outlines the special responsibilities and the specific role of the Museum Complex in popularizing our rich heritage on a scale that goes beyond the boundaries of its territorial scope. Museum work in our city is among the earliest to emerge in Blagoevgrad region. In terms of thematic scope, exhibition area, diversity and effectiveness of activities, the Museum Complex - Bansko takes its rightful place among the leading municipal museums in the country, preserving the memory and protecting the pride of Bansko.
