Racho Stoyanov" Drama Theater - Gabrovo was founded on 10 October 1945, a successor of traditions dating back to 1923, when a small amateur theatrical troupe was founded at the Aprilov-Palauzov Chitalishte and in 1929 a Municipal Theater was founded by amateur- artists. It’s repertoire features pieces designed for every audience - from children, youth, to adult performances. With Priority, however, are the classic and new Bulgarian titles, with comedies taking the lead.

 The theater participates in prestigious festivals in Switzerland, Macedonia, Albania, Russia, Hungary and Slovakia. In recent years there has been a serious international activity. The theater holds two festivals - the International Festival of Comedy Performance (every odd year) and BGMOT - an international festival of performances for an actor who is part of the ITI chain - every even year.
