The dramatization of Antichrist by Emilian Stanev is a kind of "madness", but I would say "obligatory madness". View moreThis SPECTACLE - FAIRY TALE is as if born of the ashes of barbarism and raises a voice over time, adding to the bitterness of wisdom the sweetness of memory. Both the wise Theophilus and the naive Enno, who are one, are all rooted in Todor Samokhod, the royal painter. But Enno is the youth with the deepest and most powerful and with the most lavish and false signs. It is destined for Enyo to hear the eyelids and the roar of Yantra, to see the glare of the church cubes and the windows of the palaces, to see the rusty beauty in which people live and which only the pervading eyes of the child's soul perceive. It is destined for Enno to fall in love with the king's daughter, to meet King Ivan - Alexander and to see his lineage, to love the Tabor light, ie. the light of exalted spirituality and false religion, and to go through many personal miseries of life in order to be persecuted by what he loved yesterday. And it is predestined Theophilus, the disfigured sinner and the ridiculous - ie. the late Enno - to tell about himself, to see himself as a small stream, spilled in life events, in meetings, in human love and hatred. Somewhere in Theophilus, passed away and denied, the quiet and God-fearing young man who wrote love poems for the king's daughter dies. And the other person remains - to fight with himself, to exalt himself and with himself and time. He finally found the solution - when he stripped his sword and swung at a Turkish slave-maker who came with his organization, his fanaticism, his savagery, to put an end to the profoundly spiritual development of our lives. Such is the basic philosophical and pictorial idea of dramatization. He presents us with the adventures of Enyo during the fall of Turnovo and some bitter truths about our national character. It tells us our creative wisdom, the dialectic of our self-knowledge, with which we could assert ourselves and deny ourselves.
