Description
Immerse yourself in the world of an oriental fairy tale through dance in the new performance of the Royal Dance School – “Aladdin and the Arabian Nights”. The libretto, direction, choreography and overall concept are the work of Antonia Lazarova – the school’s chief artistic director, choreographer and teacher. Especially for the performance, the young composer Valentino Babat creates original music that weaves together classical and cinematic elements to recreate the magic of the East.
The familiar images of Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and the evil vizier Jafar come to life on stage in a different, unexpected interpretation of the beloved fairy tale. Jafar, blinded by the thirst for power, falls into his own trap – the magic lamp. And Genie, Aladdin’s loyal friend, finally gains her freedom.
The story begins where the original fairy tale ends – ten years after Jasmine and Aladdin reign in Agrabah. They already have two daughters – princesses Amira and Lana, and the faithful monkey Abu and the new vizier watch over the peace of the kingdom.
But the peace and love that reign in the kingdom are put to the test when old magic awakens, and a new danger threatens harmony.
The performance is in two acts, saturated with a rich dance palette, impressive scenography and costumes that will transport you to the colorful world of oriental legends. Expect exceptional dynamics, original choreography and a finale that will surprise even the most attentive viewers.
