In 1952, the idea of converting the house in Stara Zagora, where Geo Milev grew up, into a museum was born. The main initiators were his friends poets Nikolay Liliev, Nikolay Rainov, Lamar, Lyudmil Stoyanov, Ivan Hadzhihristov, Ivan Mirchev (the last two lived in Stara Zagora at that time) and others. Another part of the main initiators are the poet's mother, his wife, his brother Boris and his four sisters, as well as a number of other relatives and friends of Geo Milev.
These initiators are joined by the public of Stara Zagora, as well as the Municipal Council of the city. More specific actions are also starting. An enhanced correspondence between the Municipal Council and the Council of Ministers of the NRB has been preserved. Miliu Kasabov's property was expropriated and towards the end of 1952, construction and restoration work began on the site.
On September 27, 1953
THE MUSEUM IS OPEN
Initially, the "Geo Milev" House Museum had a more "ethnographic" character. The rooms - three in number - have been restored almost one hundred percent as they looked at the beginning of the last century, when Georgi Kasabov was a student in Stara Zagora. A mobile canvas with photos of materials and documents related to the life and work of Geo Milev has been set up.
The parents and relatives of the poet created their first large donation - a number of manuscripts, letters, drawings of Geo Milev, as well as a large part of his personal library: books and magazines in several languages.
