The Nonument exhibition will be presented at the House of Humor and Satire on September 13, as part of the 24th Gabrovo Biennale of Humor and Satire in Art. The exhibition will remain in the museum until January 2020, and the Biennale will end at the end of September 2019.
Only on
September 14, a performance with authors LIGNA from Germany, Stefan A. Shterev
and Emilian-Gatsov - Elby (music) will be presented in front of the plate at
Buzludzha Peak. All those wishing to attend will need to sign up in advance and
bring a phone and headset with them.
Dedicated
to the theme of "Dimensions of Public", the Biennale concludes with
an exhibition presenting notes - monuments that have lost or changed their
symbolic value as a result of changes in ideology. Designed as places of praise
and memory, the monuments become oblivious, neglected and left to the influence
of time, reminiscent of unreached utopias, of compulsion and complicity.
Presenting examples from Central and Eastern Europe from the Nonument.org
platform, the exhibition draws particular attention to the Buzludzha Monument,
established as the home of the Bulgarian Communist Party, in the center of the
country, on the Balkan Peak, so that it can be seen from the north and south.
The exhibition presents documentaries, photographs and films from the design,
planning, construction, operation, closing, looting and demolition of the
monument, as well as cartoons and jokes with familiar metaphors and recent
historical events.
